TERA: Update Evolution Brings Guild War System + Improved PvP System

TERA: Update Evolution Brings Guild War System + Improved PvP System

NHN, the publisher of Bluehole's blockbuster TERA in South Korea, has confirmed that a large-scaled update named Evolution which contains some new in-game systems and contents has been released in TERA (KR).

More New MMO Details @ New Games Frontier

Evolution is the second major update of TERA released by Bluehole within this year. Couple months before, the first update named Claw of Destruction had been implemented in the Korean version.

It is learned that there will be two packages in Evolution. The first one has been released on Oct. 27 and the second package will be launched on 24 next month. The first package brought not only a guild war system, but also some big changes to the original PvP system. It also optimized the UI and made it a little easier for players to level up in TERA. In addition, there were some new dungeons contained in the first package.

Guild War: Once you met a member of the enemy guild, you can start a combat instantly.

If there are some conflicts between other guild and yours, especially conflicts which involves politics such as territory dispute, election and etc., you can declare guild war against that guild. The guild war is open for all guild members.

The key rule of guild war:

You can choose one of other guilds as your opponent and then declare war against it. The guild war will last for four hours.
The battlefield will be set in a neutral area. Once you met a member of the enemy guild, you can start a combat instantly.
The guild war is only open to the members of the two involved guilds. And members of both guilds can force quit the guild war.
You will earn score by killing members of the enemy guild. The more you kill, the higher your score would be.
After the guild war ends, the guild which scores highest will be the winner.

After Oct. 27, players cannot force others to duel just by clicking the character any more. Instead, if they want to duel with someone, they have to send a letter of challenge first.

Letter of challenge is actually a new kind of skill that players can learn after they reach a specific level. After using this skill, you can start a PvP combat with anyone who is not in your guild or your team. The target, however, will launch counterattack automatically. What is worth mentioning is that neither the dead nor the survivor would gain or lose anything.

In general, such change guarantees the equity of this game by protecting the low-level players from reluctantly falling into the combats against high-level players and then losing experience.

In addition, the improved PvP system also made some restriction on malicious duel. If players maliciously attack others, the system will accumulate the duel point, which is also known as "Infamy Point" for them. As duel point increases, these players will become more and more notorious. As a result, their stats and ability will be greatly weakened. The way to reduce the Infamy Point is to kill boss.

Other Changes

Apart from two major changes mentioned above, Evolution brings improvement to the leveling system too. The amount of experience required for leveling up is greatly reduced, which means players can level up much faster in TERA now.

The restriction for entering TERA's first area is now reset to Level 11. And before you enter the other areas, you can buy some useful equipments and weapons first in order to improve your leveling speed. The time you spend on the travel will be reduced as well because from now on you can ride your mount instead of traveling on foot after you reach Level 11.

Details:

When you team up with others to kill monsters, the team can obtain experience and gold bonus.
When several players team up for a same quest, each of them can obtain the quest item.
Several equipments have been strengthened.
Players are now more likely to get drops in dungeons until they reach the level cap.
Experience granted in different contents has all increased.
The density of bosses and regular monsters has been adjusted.
Accessibility to mount has been reset to Level 11.
Glyphs can now be used from level 20 instead of lvl25.
The crafting of fireworks has been modified for a better use in siege.
Crafting and gathering also reward some experience now. And the proficiency of crafting and gathering will be displayed in UI.
If you log out the game in a safe village, you can obtain some experience bonus based on the time you stay offline for rest.
UI Improvement

The user interface also has been changed, enhancing the visual comfort and introducing several new features.

Details:

Improved the tooltip so that players can easily compare the items that are equipped with those in the backpack.
Gave players more freedom to change their equipment. Players can change equipment between up to five preset ones any time they want.
Changed the operation of enhancing equipment to an easier way.
Added an option that enables players to abandon several quests at the same time.
Put special marks on the monsters who are involved with quests.
Expanded shortcut keys.
Improved the display of team status, showing buff, debuff and etc.
UI became fully scalable.

Frogster Unveiled a Flythrough Video of The Fyrmount for TERA

A breathtaking flythrough video and more information on the seductive Castanic race have been unveiled by the Berlin based publisher, Frogster. The emblematic Castanics are one of 7 races from the forthcoming triple-A MMO TERA, due to be released in Spring 2012.

The newly released flythrough video guides players through the volcanic depths of Fyrmount, a hellish region that has close ties to the Castanic race. Enigmatic and secretive, the Castanics are stoically self-sufficient with the key to their independence lying in Fyrmount itself.

Young males and females wanting to be accepted as adults in Castanic society are sent to the far reaches of Fyrmount to be pushed to their limits. Only those that can overcome their tasks are recognized as an adult amongst their peers. Whilst the Castanics are renowned for their cunning, amongst the lava flows and volcanic geysers littered in Fyrmount, the younglings will need every ounce of will and determination that they possess to emerge successful.

The Castanic "quest" given to each participant is purposefully vague: Find something of value, and return with it. Many return with precious ores that are scattered close to the many mines and small quarries in Fyrmount. Yet, only the bravest and boldest hunt for greater treasures in the deeper regions of these long abandoned mines.

It is around these mines however, where their biggest threats lie. Demons of all kinds have occupied Fyrmount and many still hold grudges against the Castanics. Still posing a threat to Castanica, these demons are ready to wage war once again.
